There isn't any evidence that buses are being held up by narrower roads in Chiswick and Brentford at the moment other than perhaps the 190 route. The council seems to have achieved this by putting in more dynamic traffic lights and some compensatory measures for buses to offset the loss of bus lanes. While the Brentford stretch of C9 doesn't seem to be well used as yet, there are lots of cyclists going through Chiswick and Hammersmith. Steve Taylor may not like the people he meets on buses but, despite what he says, he does seem to make good use of his Freedom Pass.
