You appear to have missed earlier coverage on this site based on the same report which showed the deterioration in bus journey times in the borough of Hounslow was among the worst in London. The Times article is opinion heavy and data light on this subject. There is unlikely to be a single cause for this and Hounslow has introduced relatively few LTNs and Cycleway 9 is just on the periphery of the borough. H&F which has been more proactive in this area has seen a lower increase in bus journey times. On the other hand, it is fairly pointless to bleat about 'too many cars' which is a reliable indicator that you are a person who doesn't understand the problem or care about a solution. I'm not sure what the overall picture on bus speeds is in Chiswick specifically but bus overcrowding is significantly worse and that has to be down to schedule reductions. There are likely to be no easy answers to this but a first step would be for the council to follow through on its plan to restore some of the lost bus lanes. |
