How ignorant! She speaks for me and for many others! It's all very well trying to get everyone out of their cars and onto bikes or walking but there is a large section of society who will never ride a bike or walk any distance because of their age, health, or other issues. We walk where we can, drive or use public transport. Giving a third of the road to cyclists is ridiculous, they are not a third of road users and their lanes are mostly empty while the rest of us are grid locked. Yet cyclists can be a real danger to other road users and should have visible registration as should the scooters and various other hybrid two wheelers common now on pavements and roads. Many ignore the rules of the road, maybe because they know they won't be caught and can now ride at speed, anywhere, it seems. Often without lights. It doesn't take much to kill someone. An awkward fall is often enough. |
