| So assuming that a driver meets a red signal but has an indication from GPS that the train ahead is a safe distance away, why should he or she not proceed after notifying the controller than this is the intention? If there is clear visibility and the train is moving ahead at a speed at which safe stopping can take place I don't see what the risk is. A GPS enabled service could also be used as a fall back when the all too regular signal failures at Turnham Green take place. |
