| I do get the points about rostering and scheduling being a lot more complicated than people might think even for apparently relatively minor changes. However, as we are now probably talking about a decade's wait for any improvement to do nothing doesn't really seem like a good option. A progressive expansion of the service over the next 10 years will give TfL a chance to judge the impact of change without the risk a making a major mistake and it will mean that ultimately the switch to a full service will be less drastic and therefore easier to implement. As I said earlier, they need to think holistically about this - if they are reducing bus services to an area which is set to see significant population growth, they need to consider what they can do to minimise the negative impact. I don't know what the stats say but my impression is that Turnham Green has become more heavily used since the reduction of bus services on Chiswick High Road. For anyone travelling from Chiswick to Hammersmith for instance the price is effectively the same so lots of people seem to be switching to the tube. |
