| >>My guess would be that the dwell times are so low at the stations at the western end of the line that the trains run ahead of schedule but once the number of passengers starts to pick up in zone 2 the dwell time becomes relatively higher. Introducing a TG stop would counteract this and actually help the timetable to be adhered to<< I'm afraid timetabling isn't as simple as that. The holding of trains isn't ordinarily to regulate the service (it's caused by an issue of sorts), so adding another stop wouldn't 'fix' anything. While you may see trains held by signals, many more zoom through. As mentioned in this thread, adding TG as a more regular stop would simply worsen the already-busy service. There's also the issue of not having enough Piccadilly (1973) stock to run the timetable with a more permanent TG stop. While the new trains will help/be nicer/more comfortable, better signalling is, I'm afraid to say, the only real solution. |
