| On the point about potential Piccadilly overcrowding at Kings Cross early in the morning - I recently took the tube to get the Eurostar arriving at Kings Cross at about 7.40am. The train was less than half full when it arrived at Kings Cross. This was during term time. While waiting at Turnham Green two Piccadilly line trains passed slowly through the station before I got a District line train to change at Hammersmith. The issue here is really predictability of journey time. I know how long an Uber will take and if there was a direct link between Turnham Green Kings Cross there would be a 5 minute range for the time the trip was likely to take. Introducing the need to use the District line means having to allow an extra 15 minutes. I can claim the Uber on expenses so next time I have to take an equivalent trip it might just be the better option. If the Piccadilly morning service at Turnham Green was extended by an hour it would make the public transport option preferable. |
