| During the TG stopping hours they have a reduced number of trains. The number of trains then ramp up for peak times. The number of trains running almost doubles between 6am and 9am (assuming normal operation and no train cancellations because of mechanical issues or driver shortages). As has been explained, the signalling doesn't permit TG stopping at the peak service frequency. So assuming you don't think there should be fewer trains at the peak, extending the hours for stopping at TG would mean running with a reduced number of trains for longer then having a shorter period of time to ramp up the number of trains inservice. I really don't know the practicalities of this. Would it involve changing the driver rostering? Or would drivers be told to turn up at the usual time but just hang around for longer? There are 5 depots for Piccadilly line trains and the timetabling would need to be changed to basically delay putting trains into service. Clearly any problems encountered would mean fewer trains in service for the peak as there would be less time to recover from issues. |
