| Richard, you seem to have missed the points made earlier about funding of schools. The Churches are net contributors into the state system. They provide buildings and pay a contribution to maintenance therefore the average taxpayer pays less due to their involvement. I'm not sure what point you are trying to make about employment law but it seems pretty irrelevant to me. It is a weak argument to say that their policy of excluding non-believers deprives a child of a good education because presumably another child is benefiting and net the cost to the tax payer is less so the 'excluded' would hopefully benefit from more resources. Unfortunately sometimes your tax goes to pay for things that society benefits from and you do not but that is the nature of Government. Whilst I have reservations about faith schools I think the kind of terminology and language you are using is inappropriate. I certainly don't think a return to the grammar school system is the answer. It is far more divisive and discriminatory than any system we have now. |
