| Statistically, church schools are no better or worse than non-church schools. Check the ofted list of schools in special measures and failing schools. There are just as many church as non-church schools in them. Church schools often use smoke and mirrors to boost their reputations. As well as interview, they also reject applications from free school meal holders. And there is another trick they pull too. Check out the next set of league tables for primary schools. As someone who works in SEN the trick to look for is the number of children with Special Educational Needs. You will find in almost all cases that church schools have lower levels of SEN students than non-church schools. Now, it may be that they accept them. But either they won't acknowledge them (Quite a few chiswick mothers with kids in church schools have drawn blood over the years trying to get statements for their kids) or they don't enter them all into SATS tests. But either way, don't be fooled into thinking that church schools are better. They ain't they are the same, its just sometimes the perception is better. |
