| "Statistically, church schools are no better or worse than non-church schools. Check the ofted list of schools in special measures and failing schools. " That's not true. On average faith schools achieve higher grades both at primary and secondary school level nationally. At a local level the top four state secondary schools in the borough are faith schools. You may need to adjust these results for the kind of admission they take as the CofE schools tend to take an entry well below the average for those taking school meals. R.C. Schools' intake tends to be above average for those taking school meals. The fact that some faith schools are in special measures doesn't prove much. In many cases these are in urban areas where they cater to deprived communities with a high proportion of immigrants. I suspect the subterfuge that you describe is universal to all schools. I doubt very much whether any school however rejects applications from free school meal holders(?). If you are aware this is happening you should name the school. |
