I think you were intending to link to this one: http://www.chiswickw4.com/community/schoolressec.htm If this is the one you are referring to I don't see how it proves Richard's point, in fact as it the numbers seem to suggest that co-educational LEA controlled schools which he is advocating are the worst performers. It would appear that the price to be paid for a 'fairer' system would be uniformly low standards. We could take comfort that however poor our own children's education, none of our neighbours children were getting better. Fortunately, the Government seems to be approaching this problem in a different way and looking at what makes the better performing schools succeed. In the state sector the common thread seems to be independence from LEA control, good discipline, commitment to standards and a strong sense of community at the school with a high level of parent involvement are what delivers results. |
