| Yes, it is not only acceptable, but its government policy. Schools are allowed to set admission policies including things like being of a particular faith, but usually for a percentage of their intake. They often have some independant funding also and are therefore possibly better off financially than some state schools. Seems reasonable that a church funded school should espouse its values. I say vive la difference, if you want the benefits of such an environment, you'de better be prepared to be a part of it. I have heard that schools like Gumley House dont seem to want just roman catholics, i think actually knowing the pope is required ;-) In some schools kids have to wear the uniform - that might include a cross for example (green school) which you might regard as hypocricy for yourself, so wouldnt want to send your kids there. |
