“Ultimately making a road more difficult to cross will mean fewer people will cross it.” That’s undeniable, but with the cycleway has come significantly less traffic, and that will make it easier to cross. The one place where we can directly measure a difference from C9 is at the bus stops. We have several of them now on bus islands along C9 down King St and the High Road while a few are unchanged. TfL have released boarding numbers for them in 2018 and 2022 and there’s no significant difference for the change in boarders at stops on or off islands. It’s been well documented that shopkeepers overestimate the proportion of customers arriving by car. In fact the OMP car park was and is seldom full. |
