“This doesn't really matter to businesses on the southside who will benefit either way and have really seen footfall decline due to the Cycleway which has tended to make people remain on the northside.“ Of all the silly claims made about the cycle lane this is my favourite. Not just because it is patently untrue and easily proven so with just a casual few minutes observation of the crossings on the High Road but more importantly because it ignores all the people living south of the cycle lane who, according to the same argument, must surely be trapped on that side and forced to frequent the businesses there! Only the most solipsistic of minds could imagine something this ludicrous. The fact that you have to cite Ngon as proof of your absurd theory is equally delicious. It moved to bigger and better premises because it was successful. I almost pity the anti-safer streets campaigners who have to lie because the arguments they have been repeating for years now have proven to be entirely wrong in reality. I suspect the restaurant owners you are chatting to are humouring you. How else should they respond to your bizarre worldview? |
