Bernard, I didn't know that previous market had failed or why - would be interested to know more. Any information out there? But it does stand to reason when there are some wonderful restaurants around, why one would want to hang around eating fast food instead. Hot food can smell, there is nowhere to sit, and the litter management provision in the application is lamentably poor. The other markets did not attract as much opposition because they present little direct competition to shops- this is rather different. Like Tom Pike and most posters on this thread, I don't run a local restaurant, but I tend to have more respect those who do and what they are saying, how it affects their takings and margins, ability to employ people, the high rates they have to pay and their struggle to keep afloat in challenging times and the prospect of a fall in trade on the most important revenue earning day of the week |
