| From my own experience, drivers turning left in front of the pub as they enter A316 from Hogarth roundabout must learn to control the traffic behind them. They should leave the Hogarth roundabout, initially at the speed of the other traffic around them, keeping their lefthand indicator on throughout (following drivers will think they have left their indicator on by mistake but they must learn it is not a mistake). They must immediately start to slow, not too suddenly, but enough to show the traffic behind them that something very odd is about to happen when they see the car ahead starting to turn left. The great thing is that as long as their car is not hit from behind they are not responsible for any accident that occurs behind them: actually, even if they ARE hit there are almost no circumstances that I can think of that would make them culpable. I have walked, cycled and driven in this area many, many times over 16 years. I have never once seen any vehicle turning left onto this road. I'm going to try and do so in a it myself soon...once I've plucked up the courage. I forsee accidents galore waiting to happen! It will slow the traffic down but at the slow speeds estimated by ???, injuries, especially to younger drivers, are unlikely to be too serious. Hey ho. |
