| By their nature hypotheticals will involve made up numbers and of course this is all very back of a cigarette packet. However, there will be a junction capacity boost for westbound A4 traffic due to A316 bound traffic being confined to a new dedicated lane which will reduce lane ambiguity. You may legitimately claim that this is a side benefit of measures primarily designed to improve safety but you simply can't deny that it wouldn't happen. I tried to be as conservative as possible in the increase in junction capacity that it would provide but 10% is probably too low. Whatever the actual number, the rest is driven by maths and the outcomes are predictable whether you are a traffic engineer or not. If you had an explanation as to why the extra lane will not increase junction capacity I'd be fascinated to hear it but otherwise your misplaced sarcasm looks like another case of you switching to ad hominem when you can't provide an argument to support your point of view. |
