| While my general intellectual ability is something I'll leave others to judge, I do have specialist knowledge of Hogarth Roundabout having used it hundreds of times. You don't seem to have fully grasped some of the points I am making, which I won't put down to stupidity, but a lack of familiarity with the road layout, as you have, quite laudably avoided driving in favour of a pedal cycle. When I spoke about three lanes being available to westbound traffic, they would not be in the proposed 'tin of paint' solution in which the existing left lane westbound on the A4 was designated A316 only. This solution would reduce the dangerous lane shuffling to deal with the safety concerns but it would mean that one lane wouldn't be used by westbound traffic crossing the roundabout and continuing straight. TfL seem to have ruled this cheap and simple solution out because they believed it would reduce capacity at the roundabout and gone for the extra lane which means there would be three lanes for westbound or right turning traffic. |
