| I'm not sure if that comment was aimed at me Michael, but if it was, do you really need to be so obnoxious? My intention was to explain why TfL may have felt a relatively small additional expenditure was justified. There is every reason to opposed any road widening scheme for which a robust case is not being made and TfL has not done this so far. Providing more space for cars doesn't not make roads safer and it is unbelievable naive of you to take at face value TfL's claim that this project is not about increasing road capacity. Your faith in it is more speculative and uninformed than anyone expressing concerns about it. Widening roads will attract more traffic, as you often remind us but seem to have conveniently forgot in this instance. In addition it will increase traffic through some of the most attractive parts of Chiswick to the extent that they are blighted. As these are roads we will all often walk along the harm is not just to the multi-millionaires who live there. If they are able to use their wealth and in inequities of our legal system to put a stop to this, I for one am not going to complain. |
