| I went to today's session. It was very good. The TfL staff were brilliant in listening to the concerns of local people. Overall there is support for the scheme and the main issue is, as expected, people not liking Church St being closed because it affects their habitual driving route. Michael was right about the software being used to model the turn off Burlington Lane and TfL is super-confident that it is absolutely fine and drivers will be able to do it very easily in one movement. They are also confident about the turn back north on Burlington Lane and noted the confusion with people not quite understanding the provision of a dedicated right turn lane. I suggested clustering lots of cycle hoops on the south side of the roundabout so that Chiswick Cycling Club and other cyclists have more space to park their bikes when they come back from their long rides in the Surrey Hills to enjoy a drink at the G&D. They loved that idea. |
