| Safe cycle paths achieve that as would e-cargo bike schemes sponsored by local government to help local businesses deliver their goods much more efficiently. A few things...CS9 is not designed per TfL and internationally recognized safety standards. And that's just for individual cyclists. Are we to believe adding cargo bikes to that mix will be safe? Or are cargo bikes expected to use the narrowed carriageway along with commuter cyclists who already represent they wouldn't be bothered with using CS9 as it doesn't support their method of cycling. Otherwise you've already got Deliveroo and Uber Eats amongst others servicing the leisure sector. Amazon just invested in Deliveroo so its likely these cyclists will have increased presence on the road to help deliver Amazon products hourly. You've also got the likes of Ocado Zoom surely the first of its kind from only one vendor. Again I maintain CS9 is already out of date as it is based solely on cycling data and not the entirety of all road use as it should be. The solution should be sustainable yet they are spending millions to install thousands of metric tons of permanent (polluting) tarmac and concrete to provide unsafe cycling infrastructure that doesn't meet their own criteria. Oh yes, and there is still that pesky £1 billion debt looming since revenue from Crossrail hasn't kicked in and tube ridership is down as is that revenue. Bottom line? |
