| Thanks for answering with some positive suggestions rather than suggesting I am a self-interested flat earther. I don't think that there is any way to stop housing projects which already have planning permission and that would include the huge Brentford Stadium development. It might be possible to use the potential traffic problems as grounds for objection for schemes like Hudson Square and Chiswick Curve but I have no idea how successful that might prove. CS9 looks to be fairly unstoppable now although Jo Biddolph's post saying that the decision won't be made until the autumn contradicts TfL's earlier confident assumption that ground will be broken this Summer. Against this your suggestions are all sensible but will provide a very marginal benefit which will not mitigate factors pushing in the other direction. My concern is that such a high proportion of traffic on London's roads now is non-discretionary i.e. people who have no other choice but to drive. This will include deliveries, licenced hire, buses, people carrying out trades and services, people with limited mobility, people whose commute is not doable by public transport. London's population has grown significantly over the past 15 years but car use has declined so it is reasonable to assume that the remaining scope for lifestyle changes you hope will solve these looming problems is more limited than it used to be. |
