It's not paranoia at all. I think it's incredibly important to know what kind of organisations we are dealing with. We live in a democracy where everyone can vote, but in a capitalist society, far greater changes are influenced by our daily decisions about how and where to spend our money. The main reason I posted about the meeting at the Natural Cafe is simply to give people a little more information about what they might also inadvertently be supporting when they spend their hard-earned sterling. There is absolutely nothing paranoid about that. And, I don't think I am overreacting at all. By nature, we atheists tend to not think about religion at all, and get on with other things, while religious types spend in comparison a tremendous amount of time on it. Therefore, for me to notice and want to warn people about what's going on is in relative terms not a major deal and certainly not fanatical. I'm pleased to let people believe what they like, as long as they leave me out of it. But I don't have to support what I absolutely object to, and that's why I won't be going anywhere near the Natural Cafe. It seems I am not alone in this. |
