Cyclist numbers are well above prepandemic levels both locally and nationally. GB cycling counts are up by 44%, while car counts are 1% down for the first week of May compared to early March 2020 according to DfT data. The 2021 cycle counts on the High Road were up 39% on prepandemic levels compared to 33% higher in 2020 according to the TfL annual data series that goes back to 2015. It’s difficult to miss there’s been a significant increase in cyclists. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/transport-use-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-pandemic https://cycling.data.tfl.gov.uk/ |
