So, same amount of vehicles on narrowed road space, not to mention the majority of cyclists who don't use the lanes that taxpayers have wasted millions on and those who poodle along in the middle of the road blocking the traffic have no effect whatsoever? Not to mention the (empty) roads closed to vehicles. I worked in transport research for 10 years when the cycling lobby were promoting the idea that forcing traffic into a narrow space would result in everyone jumping onto bicycles. It was obviously nonsense then and has now been proven to be true at massive expensive and disruption. It's time that the cycling lobby admitted that this has been a huge (and predictable) failure and paid a levy to make up for the unnecessary expense. |
