That’s not true Phillipa. Climate change was widely discussed 30 years ago. It formed a topic in my degree. Fossil fuels were acknowledged as a problem, but that was known about for even longer, hence the Clean Air Acts of the 1950s. London’s air is cleaner now than it has ever been in the past 150 years. Local authorities have abandoned their duties as far as pavement maintenance is concerned. The money for that comes from the same ring fenced pot as bike lanes, but is rarely used for that. You call people intransigent, yet the solutions you offer create as many problems as they supposedly solve, and become problems themselves. |
