Peter, like your namesake Mark, you seem to be under the impression that SatNav companies give a toss about directing traffic along residential streets. They don't. They only care about saving seconds for drivers and have absolutely no incentive whatsoever to change this. All these people who think that SatNav companies will have some altruistic reason to reduce traffic along residential streets are naive in the extreme. The most effective way to change their routing is a bollard that makes it physically impossible for a vehicle to pass. And even then, many maps aren't updated so drivers will continue to go down a street only to find it closed. |
