Of course the original bus gate caused queues to general traffic. The aim was to prioritise bus movements, including in and out of the depot. The bus lane allowed buses travelling through to bypass those queues. The Acton Lane bus gate replicates most of that function at the west end of the High Road, increasing the speed of the eastbound service, as mentioned by a regular passenger above. I’m not denying that there is traffic displacement, and as I’ve said before TfL should take measures to counter it, not remove the bus gate. |
