Michael has already given you the answer as to why Ealing Council may not classify Fishers Lane as a LTN. Because it is designated as part of a cycle route linking Acton to Cycleway9. None of the other LTNs I have documented here are designed as designated cycle routes. Personally I don't think that is confusing. I don't know what Ealing Council will do but I suspect Michael is right and there will not be a further CPZ-style consultation for Fishers Lane because it is a cycle route. We shall see. As for the consultation methodology for what Ealing Council is designating as new LTNs, none of which are in Chiswick, they may very well seek responses from people in surrounding areas of LTNs but I understand that more weighting will be given to those inside the LTN. That is a moral question - one either believes that the right of residents on minor roads to live on quiet and safe streets trumps the right of drivers to have unrestricted access to the whole road network to make their journeys shorter or vice versa. I think it is difficult for any Chiswick resident living in a pre-2020 LTN to make a strong moral case for the rights of drivers to trump the rights of residents. But I look forward to seeing somebody volunteer for the task .... |
