Tom, some of your earlier posts are inaccurate. The now removed bus gate by Stamford Brook was not put in to improve bus times, but to allow buses easier exit from the bus garage. This was when Mayor Ken was increasing bus frequencies and TFL had money to burn. Beforehand, there were no delays to buses on this route, or for private vehicles, the westbound CHR junction before Chiswick Lane worked well with a long left filter. The bus gate created queues, as then head of transport at LBH, Chris Calvi Freeman accepted. The knock on effect of the new queues was when they reached back to before the bus lane, delaying buses on Goldhawk Road and King Street. The loss of bus lanes in the full CS9 design and even worse now is a flaw. TFL indicate to me no delays to buses in the past at the CHR/ ACton Lane junction. It was not included in the original CS9, which also confirms the point. It 'protects' buses as you say by penning back all other traffic. That is what it does and it does it well. Traffic then displcaces onto Wellesley Road and Heathfield Gardens off the A4 to reach Acton Lane and avoid queues on CHR. Paul Corcoran nicely summarised the problems this has created. TFL are aware of the congestion and traffic displacement onto residential roads caused by the new bus gate. If this is sufficient for it to be changed we will see. But please stop claiming these problems do not exist or making statements that are false. I can't see why you do this? |
