| If SatNav usage is increasing the amount of traffic on our hitherto quiet residential roads, it would be useful to have a system whereby the local authority tells the SatNav companies which roads are closed, but doesn't actually close them. Thus speculative through traffic would be diverted but locals who know better would be unaffected. As it is, the algorithm seems to work by detecting actual traffic movements, which is why our present ineffective 'closures' are still offered as viable routes. |
