That's all a LTN is Peter. A road closure like at Evershed Walk or Priory Road that pevents through-traffic from accessing a number of residential roads in the vicinity to make it a low-traffic neighbourhood. Those closures make areas to the east and west of Acton Lane and north of South Parade LTNs. They are very deliberate and effective in their placement and force through traffic to use Bollo Lane, Acton Lane and the Avenue instead of smaller less suitable residential roads. Or in The OC speak - displace traffic, increase congestion and force pollution on the less fortunate who live on main roads. A new example of this similarly simple and effective measure is Harvard Hill in Grove Park. Woodstock Rd has also been blocked at its southern end to create a public realm improvement and prevent traffic accessing roads east of the Avenue and north of Bath Road from the roundabout but that is probably less driven by prevention of high volumes of through-traffic on those roads. It still means for some in The OC speak - forcing residents to take lengthy detours, burning more petrol to reach their homes. |
