Richard. I'm not quite sure what you're saying 'Wrong' about. Are you complaining that people are calling it a tax? If so the 'Bedroom tax' is still the name they use even if it is not a direct tax by the government. The result of the new rules is that people end up having to pay for empty bedrooms. Unless they can move, which many can't. The reasons why there are spare rooms are as complicated as the lives we live. For some it is for a son / daughter. For some it is for a carer or someone who supports them. For some that extra room is needed for health reasons. Regardless of the reason, the rules are highly unlikely to save any money as the knock on effect is going to be very costly in terms of benefits. It's just another example of this government putting ideology before any economic considerations. At least with Labour they spent money to make people's lives better, this government appears to be spending money to make it worse. |
