"It was wrong of you to state that "bedroom tax" is the commonly understood name etc - it is the commonly mis-understood name." That is the popular name given to the new rules of under occupancy. It is not a direct government tax but, as I have pointed out, the effect is that those who are least able to pay are being forced to pay for their rent. It is a not too subtle reduction in benefits that is project NOT to save the government money. "Overall I think it can prove to be a worthwhile move." It could, but it's looking highly unlikely. It could also be a very costly mistake that will push up the cost of benefits whilst causing heartache. |
