Correct, the DM article talking about 10 schools, predates the DT article (which states 1 school) by four years - so the "problem" of a lack of native english speakers has gone down, has it? Do you think either or both of the articles are true? If it has gone down from 10 to 1 over four years, surely the "problem" you are talking about has almost disappeared. What i was trying to get across is that the DM scandalises lack of native English speakers in schools in one article, and then scandalises the poor performance of white working class boys in another (who, i would assume are going to be native English speakers). Also, you were clearly making inferences that immigration is a problem, because you referred to articles about a lack of English speakers in schools, thereby leading to problems in society. The DM article i posted pretty much infers the opposite - that white native english speakers from working class backgrounds struggle more than other ethnicities. So, what is your view? |
