Same here in respect of all parks, and supposed "shared facilities. Unlike with cars on roads there can be no realistic expectation that people in parks, dogs, or children are going to stick to the designated paths, and why they should they ? To quote one of Paul Campbell's favoured phrases they go to the park to "have fun". Not to be always looking over their shoulder. I found it astonishing that this gentleman won his case. More especially given his claim to be an experienced cyclist. The first thing you need to learn as cyclist, is to always on your guard and to only go as fast as would allow you to take avoiding action should anything should come into your path whether its a car or an articulated lorry - thankfully usually more predictable - or a dog or a small child - most definitely not. michael adams |
