"that would mean they would sacrifice the lives of 100s or 1000s of people for a principle at least they aren't being mealy mouthed about it". The fact is that no-one actually knows whether all this about saving lives is true - how do you quantify this? Where is the proof? It's all supposition. My problem with this is that this week we are commemorating the people who gave their lives in many wars, for our freedom from oppression, if we are happy to condone torture after all that awful sacrifice then we have learned nothing. Intelligence was what played such a huge part in winning the second WW not torture, to condone that, to me, is to lose your humanity. |
