Got me thinking... One of the things I look for in a politician is whether they value professional knowledge and expertise, on which Livingstone (these days) scores quite highly and nearly everyone else very low, particular those that value loyalty to ideology above any kind of talent (the US Republican Party or Stalinists, in the extreme). It seems to me that if you're willing to accept that someone else might know more about something than you, you'll do less damage, which in a democracy, is about the best we can hope for. |
