| Richard, I am not playing the tax inspector and neither I believe you are an expert on Spanish taxation system. Capital gain tax is certainly payable on rental in Spain. The property itself won't be taxed in the UK, but the earnings from it must be declared on the UK tax return, and are taxable in the UK' If that is the case then I think the British Inland Revenue has a bloody cheek getting tax on the income generated by A Spanish property. '(but are subject to double taxation relief, which means that tax paid in Spain is offset against the UK tax demand)' Which takes us back to the question Lynette is artfully avoiding to answer. Lynette, the 'my accountants blah, blah,' won't do. Do you produce an ivoice every time you rent your properties in Spain? Do you declare each one of these invoices to the Spanish Hacienda? In fact, let me ask you an even straighter question: would you sleep soundly tonight if somebody told you they were about to direct the Spanish Hacienda attention towards your two properties? You are very welcome to ask me the same question about the taxes I pay in this country. |
