| "How is your wife not eligible for benefits". Because it is stamped on her visa. Exactly what this means I do not know - because she can have (for instance) NHS help. But we have only applied for 2 benefits (maternity and child allowance) and been refused both. However it may have been the maternity benefit was because she had not been in the country (this time) long enough. I do remember that no matter how long she had been here she would never have got child benefits on her visa. And she got that visa after we married - it wasn't the one she entered on. Really I was just saying that benefits seem as difficult to get for foreigners as for "us". |
