| I'm not sure why the issue is that one of "our people" cannot get a bed rather than why anyone living in this country cannot get a bed. Assuming our people means people born here my wife is a foreigner, albeit now living here permanently. She lived here most of her childhood and this is her third stay here as an adult, and she has worked each time paying taxes. Probably overpaying taxes in fact. However she is not eligible for benefits. After our daughter was born here she was not even eligible to apply for child benefit. There are a lot of genuine hard luck stories, sometimes preventable. However the feeling that foreigners get better deals should be left to the (sadly numerous) xenophobic Daily Mail readers. |
