So nobody should be allowed benefits unless they apply for citizenship? Maybe nobody should have benefits unless they become Church of England as well. She now has permanent leave to remain. It may be now that she can have more benefits - we haven't applied for any so we don't know. However she had to wait a further 2 years after getting the visa after getting married before she could apply for that. I don't know if she would have to wait longer to apply for citizenship or if that would mean she could get more benefits. It's just that benefits are not exactly thrown at foreigners settling here permanently |
