| 'Excuse me Ana, but lm no more pushing up the price of houses than yourself and others who have chosen to live and buy in London from other countries.' Excuse me, Lynette, but please stop talking to me as if I were extremely ignorant. Your situation is not comparable to mine. To start with, I am a fully domiciled resident in this country and I pay ALL my taxes here. Whereas you are a resident in Britain who has bought a property in Spain for the purpose of exploiting it financially. Helping the locals? Don't make me laugh. Any of those locals you describe as 'hard by' could be making a living off that land you bought if you hadn't priced them out of the market. 'I have 2 children who have just finished University and have to live in London at home because there is no way that my children could buy a house here, they face the same problems as those Spanish children trying to buy.' And of course, Spain not being your country, you choose to make life even harder for Spanish children by doing your bit to inflate the property bubble. ' As l said l pay my Tax to the spanish goverment, l get nothing for nothing.' And you would say that, wouldn't you? Ok. Let's analyse this. You send English tourist over there. They pay you in sterling pounds, in Britain, for the rent of your property in Spain. Are you telling me you declare this capital gain to the Spanish government and pay your tax on it, as Spanish people have to do? Pull the other one now. 'The reason l had to invest is because this is my pension and the only thing that will take me into old age. . So you are making your pension out of making property unafordable for the locals. Forgive me for not having any sympathy for you. 'Every thing l do is totaly Legal and l even refused to buy the land with black money which was expected of me by the spanish seller' Of course, darling, we are all corrupt, dodgy dagos, aren't we? We are all at it, aren't we? So why wouldn't you rightfully stick your hand up to your elbow in the pie? Property gets more expensive for the locals? The price bubble threatens the Spanish economy? Who cares? It's not your country and, after all, your pension is so much more important. ' I really resent what you are trying to make me out to be.' That is nothing compared to how much I resent your hypocrisy, xenophobia and fascism. 'I did not try to make out by any means that l am like Mother Teresa, l helped a guy who was in need of help and felt that there should be places that could give him the help he needed.' Based on the sole fact that he is English. Would you have done so if he had been a foreigner? It soooo doesn't wash. |
