"Therefore it is ridiculous to suggest that any politician who is a member of the London Cycling Campaign is biased or has a vested interest" Sorry, Jeremy, what's ridiculous is your conclusion. Plenty of examples here, but of late look no further than what has happened in the US Supreme Court last week. Special interests are just that, special, and do not by definition follow the generality laws and protocols are meant to address. They are a powerful few who pull the strings to the detriment of many. Parliamentary procedure dictates recusal when one's special interest would undermine one's impartiality. Precisely part of the problem these procedures have been ignored all too often. LTNs anyone? Same thing applies. |
