Jeremy, I think you are getting confused by the process used to make changes to roads. All permanent changes are made using a traffic management order which makes them permanent (a tautology, I know). You seem to be saying that a permanent traffic order preceded by a trial using an experimental traffic order should be subject to more review than a permanent traffic order preceded by no trials at all. That doesn't make sense, does it? There will be more information available for the permanent traffic order decision if there has been a real world trial before this compared to, just a consultation for people to write in with opinions about what they think might happen. I don't see you calling for other roads to be opened up "when the road system is under stress". For example, Paxton Rd was made no entry from the A316 to stop drivers bypassing Hogarth roundabout between the A316 and A4. Surely according to you, TfL/Hounslow should be opening up Paxton Rd whenever there is congestion at Hogarth roundabout? What is your explanation why this has never come up? Could it be that after a couple of years, people simply get used to the change? So in a few years time, people will look back at your posts in puzzlement in the same way that anyone asking for, say, Chiswick Road to be opened up to relieve congestion at the CHR/Acton Lane junction would simply be dismissed today. |
