Hi Maggie, thanks for your reply. Reflecting on it, it was private individuals (AFAIK) who gave their contributions to One Chiswick, and the purpose of One Chiswick was reasonably clear, so if those individuals don't want others to know where the money went, fair enough. I get the impression that some people who contributed money (and who posted on this forum saying as much) did want to know how the money got spent, and felt a lack of transparency - this may have been resolved for all I know. I disagree with you however, in my opinion anyone has a right to ask, though they don't have a right to demand an answer if they haven't contributed, and if they're told mind your own business, in a case like this, fair enough. By the way I wouldn't feel the same when we have large amounts of donations changing hands and there is a suspicion of the donors seeking to influence elected governments. On a positive note, it looks like the sink hole near the station has been filled in, and hopefully all the pipes that I saw on Sunday lying there on the road don't need to go under the road, but can just be taken away on a truck and TGT can re-open. |
