Mark lets hope things are slightly better this week, we still have restrictions by Kew Bridge. Its interesting you mention the throttling of traffic on the High Road, as this is one of the key factors that diverts traffic onto South Parade and Acton Lane in the first place. The problem is that on the one hand we hear that traffic 'should' be on main roads and not minor roads, but then the current version of CS9 has reduced capacity on a major A road for west-east traffic, plus also routes and capaciy for north-south travel. The biggest hit is at the western end where the new bus gate diverts lots of traffic onto residential roas and the route of CS9. But its replicated the length of CHR. Then we have issues around the Hammersmith gyratory, so traffic that 'should' stay on the A4 diverts off into W4. The elephant in the room is the crumbling infrastructure under our roads. Its only a matter of time before Acton Lane railway bridge is again dug up, or another route. You may well be right about the business park, which underlines my more general point is that the main problem in W4 is commuter and through traffic. The narrow focus of many posters on their neighbour popping to the shops as the main problem is wrong, and unless you know the cause of a problem you cannot address it. |
