Hi Andy. Thanks for your reply and I'm pleased that you agree that "we may very well need one (a CPZ) now". What I fail to understand is why we should be expected to jump through higher hoops to get one than have any of our neighbours elsewhere in Chiswick ( parking surveys etc.). I don't accept your point about the interconnectedness of the area north of the railway. The Park Road CPZ has had zero effect where we both live. Our problems, as you and I agree, come from Chiswick Business Park. As to Ed Mayne, the very worst we might say of him is that he made a CPZ happen for Park Road, when roads such as Elmwood had a prior claim (and a more serious problem). But I'm impressed that there are no voices from Park Road complaining of 'blight'. You and I, Andy, need only look out our hall doors to understand the real meaning of blight; cars parked bumper to bumper, no passing room, delivery vans that block our roads for minutes at a time, builders lorries that block the road for hours at a time (as happened last year on St Mary's Grove). The recent consultation should settle things. In a recent diary Sam Hearn mentioned that he had found a heavy demand in the west of the ward for a CPZ. If the anger of my near neighbours is representative, I expect a convincing vote for a CPZ. |
