The last attempt by the council to "consult" with residents was shot down by our Area Forum earlier this year. The Traffic Office decided to consult ONLY with those roads which had specifically asked for a CPZ in their road (another example of the contemptuous manner in which we are treated by the Traffic Office). It was all too embarrassing for the council, and the Traffic Officers were ordered to go away and start again, this time sending the consultation papers to ALL AFFECTED RESIDENTS in Grove Park (i.e. all of us). But even now, after all that, they cannot bring themselves to play fair. They have decided (for what reason?) to exclude all residents who live in flats like Sutton Court, or Thames Village. At least, that's what it seems like. In what way are these residents "not affected"? the Consultation should be for ALL residents, not just those who the traffic office deems worthy of inclusion. This is why so many residents continue to fight against this whole thing. It's hugely frustrating at every stage when the council just keep trying it on and refuse to hold a transparent and fair process of consultation with all residents, to get their views. Because they know full well that last time everyone was asked, 92% of us said no. And they don't want to repeat that mistake It's truly shocking it really is. And this is why we will keep on being a thorn in the side of these slimy officers who keep trying to slip this CPZ past everyone without anyone realizing what is going on. If they would only play fair we wouldn't have to keep calling foul every time. |
